Forum: movies Subject: Notice of Changes to the Movies Section of the Archive

The Internet Archive has made some changes to the movies section of the archive, and the biggest short term issue is that new additions and changes will be turned off for the next day, maybe 2.

What is going on:
* the movies were all moved to a new cluster, with newer hardware and software (our "petabox")
* the movies interface has now changed, it is now using XML and XSLT. We hope this will make changes in the future easier to implement.
* the future: uploads directly to the server machines rather than an "incoming" machine. that will enable faster posting and curation processes.

Please tell us of problems. The easiest way for us to deal with things is through the Report Errors links on the individual details pages. Or you can send things to info@archive.org.

onward!

I just hope this sorts out the alphabeticalism problem the archive was having.. Like when you choose Alphabetical listing on the Prelinger archive, it's anything but that.

I hope this fixes the RSS feed to "game_replays". (http://www.archive.org/services/collection-rss.php?mediatype=movies&collection=game_replays) One entry, an MGS movie, seems to have its RSS entry update every for the last 5 months.
